Vibration Monitoring Program Development

Purpose:
The purpose of this course is to prepare technicians to select machines for monitoring, setup the software and hardware for monitoring, collect good data and interpret trends in that data so as to detect developing faults in machinery early enough to allow planned repairs.

Objectives:
At the completion of this course, the student who actively participates will:

  • Understand what Predictive Maintenance is
  • Understand the Application of Vibration Monitoring and Analysis
  • Have used Vibration Test Equipment
  • Have practiced Practical Application Issues
  • Have used specific Vibration Data Collection Equipment furnished by the client
  • Have used Specific Vibration Monitoring Software furnished by the client

Description:
This is a heavily hands-on course, with the emphasis on learning to use the instrument and software for basic monitoring. Participants will work with the datalogger both with the software and as a stand-alone instrument. In the software, they will develop a database of machines and measurements, set up a path to collect the pertinent data, collect that data and interpret it. They’ll then learn the proper actions to take and how to report the results.
The course can be customized to use the client’s procedures and equipment.
Note: When using client furnished equipment and software, access to the pertinent manuals during course development may be needed to insure the course is customized to that equipment and software.

Content:
  • Introduction
  • What is vibration and where does it come from
  • Common vibration causes in industrial machinery
  • Proper equipment setup for analysis
  • Identifying problems using vibration spectra and time waveforms
  • Advanced tests
  • Field experience in vibration analysis
