Purpose:
The purpose of this course is to teach machinery repair and installation personnel and supervisors to correctly align rotating machinery that use belt and chain drives.
Objectives:
At the completion of this course, the student who actively participates will:
- Understand the importance of correct sheave and sprocket alignment
- Have performed alignment using a straight edge
- Have performed alignment using a string or wire
- Have performed alignment with a laser if available
- Have installed taper lock bushings
- Describe methods of adjusting tension
- Have properly installed and tensioned drive belts
- Have properly installed and tensioned drive chains

Description:
This is a hands-on course. Participants will measure misalignment, do a rough preliminary alignment, detect and correct conditions that effect alignment and practice several methods of performing alignment. They will also correctly install and tension v-belt and chain drives.
