Introduction to Oil Analysis

Purpose:
This course is an overview for managers, supervisors and skilled trades of basic oil analysis techniques and how to understand their results.

Objectives:
At the completion of this course, the student who actively participates will:

  • Understand the importance of proper lubrication properties and cleanliness
  • Understand how machine condition can be assessed from the lubricant tests
  • Understand the basic tests of lubricants
  • Be able to interpret test results and determine required actions


Description:
This is a case study based course with some hands-on. Participants will review the most common methods of analyzing lubricant samples and discuss the meaning of the results. Hands-on will include some simple field tests to illustrate basic testing principles.
